FiSH – Festival im StadtHafen Rostock is since 2004 the Spring Event of the young german movie scene. The center of attention is the national competition JUNGER FILM with the best non-commercional shortfilms of the latest year and with the opened jury-discussions. Next to that are shining the „SehSterne“ (Starfishes), supperted by the Cultural Filmfounding Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, with films, reports and documentaries from and about Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as special themes like film+music.
Typical for FiSH is the international Guest Land-Window – which is a forum for ambitious up and coming directors invited from one of the - annually changing - Baltic Sea countries.From this category chooses the Media Authority of M-V and the Ministry for Education, Science and Culture the recipient of the Media Competence Prize M-V award for the best project created in media education in the state.
Networks, workshops, receptions and filmparties make sure for an intense exchange between audience and the people from the film-industry.
FiSH lures per annum more then 3000 film-enthusiastics in the projection halls along the harbors of hansa city. Since 2013 the festival is patronaged by the Cultural Minister of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Mathias Brodkorb.
