FiSH is the Festival im StadtHafen (Festival at the CityPort) Rostock, a young and fresh film festival by young people for young people. With thrilling and innovative young films, every year since 2004 FiSH transforms Rostock into a meeting place for junior filmmakers and junior directors from all over Germany. Under the title FiSH X, this year the event of the Bundesverband Deutscher Film-Autoren (National Association of German Film Authors), BDFA, and the Bundesverband Jugend und Film (National Association Youth and Film), BJF, is held between April 16^th and April 18^th and is organised by the Institut für neue Medien (Institute for New Media) in Rostock.

As with every FiSH, central and largest part of FiSH X will be the Germany-wide contest Young Film where the best short films of youths up to 27 years are shown and publicly rated by a professional jury. Furthermore, you can expect parties with filmmakers, the young film from Lithuania and, of course, the award ceremony on Sunday.

Until the entry deadline for the contest contributions for Young Film on January 15^th, nearly 400 films were sent in of which approximately the best 40 will be shown at the festival as part of the contest.

With more than 4.200 visitors and more than 80 films shown in total at FiSH 09, in the last year FiSH lived more than up to its reputation as the largest festival for the young film in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (MV). To stress the significance of MV as an aspiring young film state even more, Minister President of MV, Erwin Sellering, is once again patron for FiSH X.
